Introduction
The Greek Coeliac Society was created twenty years ago by a small group of thirty people. Their aim was to resolve vital issues experienced by individuals suffering from celiac disease. The primary goal at that time was to import into the Greek market gluten free flour and staccato macaroni as there weren’t any products in Greece that served the patients needs. Nowadays we have the option to choose from a wide range of gluten free products and the market is being continuously enriched.
One of the greatest achievements of our society is the passing of the bill in order for the patient’s costs related to the purchasing of specific gluten free products to be covered by insurance funds.
Along with solving major issues that affect individuals suffering from the condition, our society always gave great importance to informing its members. Until recently, the members could communicate with us via the phone and at our annual symposium.
